Western Kenya, Kericho: Drinking water for pupils of the Taiywet primary school
December 2022
In December our partner organization Kiptere installed the fifth water treatment plant for schools in Kenya.
The association is responsible for various projects. The aim of the project "Health Promotion" is to reduce diseases related to contaminated water and to provide families with access to clean drinking water and medical care.
Rainwater from the roof of the school building is collected in a 3000 liter tank. Via a plastic pipe the water is then cleaned from small particles in the pre-filter of the aqua pura Waterflow system (blue on the picture). The pump (black) then transports the water through the microfilter on the right. The pores, 30 millionths of a millimeter in diameter, remove bacteria and the UVC lamp in the filter destroys possible viruses. This is how clean, bacteria-free drinking water is produced from rainwater at the Taiywet school.
The 350 students and residents receive an additional twelve health lessons from the association. The water quality is periodically tested with the analysis plates of aqua pura. The plant purifies 800 liters of water per hour.
Kenya: New Waterflow drinking water system at Juhudi School Kenya
October 2022
Juhudi is a public primary school located about 100 km north of Mombasa, in the district of Kilifi. 450 pupils are being taught here.
The new school building, complemented by a toilet block, was planned and partly financed by Peter Preisig (www.watsanaid.ch). Site manager and project manager on site was Peter Wieser (www.watoto-goshene.ch). The Waterflow System with auxiliary installations was donated by aqua pura.
The rainwater from the roof is collected in a tank with a capacity of 10,000 liters, also financed by aqua pura. The sun protection roof ("Makutti") prevents the water from heating up too much, which would promote the development of bacteria.
The entire Waterflow500 system was installed and put into operation in a lockable room in the school building. It can treat up to 1'000 l/h of drinking water. The energy required to operate the pump and the UVC lamp is produced by solar panels.
In addition to advice on hygiene and suitable water containers, Peter Wieser has also put up a donation board with a reference to aqua pura.
Now, bacteriologically and virologically safe drinking water flows from four taps for the pupils.
The new school building with new sanitary facilities and a drinking water treatment plant as well as the fencing of the compound create a safe and clean environment for the children. These points are very important for a good school education in Kenya as well..
aqua pura is pleased to have once again brought a seriously executed project to a good end together with Peter Preisig and the reliable construction manager Peter Wieser and many local employees in Kenya.

Kenya, Goshene: Clean drinking water for orphans and schoolchildren
Clean drinking water flows into Goshene, a small place in the Kenyan bush for orphans and schoolchildren.
Goshene is a place (translation: Holy Place) that can be reached in about 1 hour from Marere and the Community Centre of the PRO GANZE Association via bumpy roads
The aqua pura water purification system was installed in the Goshene school building under the supervision of Peter Wieser, a member of PRO GANZE. A grid cabinet was installed to protect the system.
The water pipe was laid from the rainwater tank at the school building to the drinking water system in the school building.
Since August 2021, bacteriologically and virologically clean drinking water has been flowing from two taps on the wall of the school building for the pupils and also for local people.
Peter Wieser is happy about the new drinking water system together with the pupils and orphans.
The aqua pura team would like to thank him very much for his super performance. Peter installed our Waterflow system very quickly and perfectly for the benefit of the local people!
We would also like to thank the students and teachers from Düdingen (Canton Fribourg), who made a significant contribution to the realisation of this drinking water project in Goshene. Their efforts with the sale of self-made products resulted in a donation of CHF 2,500 to aqua pura for this project!
https://saubereswasser.wordpress.com/2021/07/
As another highlight for the school in Goshene, Peter Wieser was able to build and put into operation a toilet facility designed and financed by Peter Preisig and his association WatSanAid. This means that the children can also be taught the very important subject of hygiene.
Peter Preisig and the WatSanAid association are long-standing and generous partners of aqua pura, thank you very much!
Kenya, Ganze: Clean drinking water for the Marere Community Center and Marere College

Kenya, Makaani: First Waterflow System for village population and school
January 2020
Makaani is located in the east of Kenya in Kitui County, about 200 km from Nairobi. The houses of the typical scattered settlement are spread over many hills, some of which can only be reached by steep, washed out paths.
Together with Friends of Makaani, the Waterflow 250 System donated by aqua pura was installed and is operated with solar technology. The water is pumped from a newly constructed water reservoir into the tank on top of the building. From there it flows through the Waterflow System and can be used on the outside as bacteriologically and virologically clean drinking water.
