A Purion system has been in operation since June 1, 2025. This means that this health station, consisting of a maternity ward and an outpatient clinic that treats an average of 221 patients per day, now has clean drinking water available from six taps inside the buildings. 

In addition, three taps have been installed in the station area for the surrounding residents. This means that the 122 surrounding households with approximately 1,000 people, including 287 children under the age of 10, benefit from the quality of the filtered water. To avoid disturbing patients and technical staff, usage times for the surrounding population have been set (from 7 to 8:30 a.m., from 1 to 4 p.m., and from 7 to 10 p.m.).

In collaboration with the partner organization Hope87, this has already enabled the second health station in Senegal to be supplied with clean drinking water. The project benefited from the experience of Youssouph Mané, who also supervised the first project in Kolda.

January 2023

In collaboration with UNITED TEAMS, the strategic alliance between "HOPE'87" & "YOU Foundation", the water purification system at the Siklio Hilele health post could be put into operation in January 2023. The water that the patients consume so far is supplied by the national water company (Sen Eau). The quality of the water is very poor, there are often particles in the water, it also has a reddish colour and repeatedly leads to diarrhoea among patients, and specially children. The water analysis shows an infestation with e-coli bacteria.  

The installation of a water purification system and the newly installed 5'000 l tanks ensure a regular supply of drinking water.

Patients, their relatives, staff, and residents in the neighbourhood are supplied via the 2 water taps in the ward and a public water point. Salimatou Diallo, a resident of the neighbourhood and beneficiary of the water from the aqua pura facility, said "Now I drink the tap water, which no longer smells or tastes bad, and I no longer buy drinking water from the shops for my family's consumption".
